ABOUT THIS OAKENTOONIn collaboration with
... who supplied me with the accurately bitter "Spot 10 differences" headers as well as "There's a book?" joke, which I've also used before:
Sorry, but I'm trying to get all these cynical ideas out of my head...
Share your woes with me if your heart was broken by "The Battle of the Five Armies" like mine was:
Where is the hand on the harpstring ...Dear Oakenlovers,
Please excuse Your Humble Owl for adding a spoon of wood tar into the barrel of honey dripping throughout the Internet on how wonderful the last “Hobbit” movie was. For me, it was a disaster. Harsh as this statement may seem, my heart was broken and defiled. You know I’m not some dumb Middle-Earth hater. I loved “The Lord of the Rings” and I can honestly say I really enjoyed the first two “Hobbit” movies. The Oakentoons were one of the outcomes of my very profound attachment to what I’ve read and seen so far. Sure, I did have a lot of fun mocking the plot and the characters, but I’ve never set the bar of humor low enough for anyone to feel hurt or affronted (I hope). But last night, after seeing “The Battle of the Five Armies” - the movie I had very high expectations for, especially after seeing the trailer - all my hopes turned into a worst kind of nightmare – a cruel joke made out of everything
Please note that it's not my goal to make you hate BOTFA. It's just my way of dealing with my disappointments - through humor, I hope.
P.S. Poor Theoden. They just won't let him be... Worse than the Valentoons, this is.

Sure you have to deal with it the way it fits your personality; I just wish to give disappointed people a light - or dragon - at the end of the tunnel, for that's my personality.
As I said, I don't think the movies are perfect, either, same as LotR, same as the books. And I was very disappointed of big parts of the ending, and parts of the movies before, especially hated that studio demanded love triangle etc., p.p., not that you think you're alone with that.
I just learned the hard way to see more light than darkness generally.
Don't know if you've read the MiddleEarthMadness group log, so l bother you with this quote, for it gave me a lot of comfort (also in more severe matters of life):
“We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it.
In many ways, unwise love is the truest love.
Anyone can love a thing because.
But to love something despite.
To know the flaws and love them too.
That is rare and pure and perfect.”

"Even if you're disappointed, is all you liked about the movies suddenly nothing worth anymore?"
I agree. My brother told me something similar when we left the cinema - you shouldn't hate the other five movies because of one.
Then again things which are important to some, will be unimportant to others. That's the problem of different tastes and expectations. That's why I can imagine there'll be legions of fans who left the cinema happy with what they saw. I don't want to take that away from them. But what I do is influenced by what I think and how I feel. And right now I need some time to recover by being extra cynical.

Thank you!
I completely understand that you and Jackal are, sorry, pissed about some stuff, it's the same here, and of course you should handle it the way you like to handle it.
But also I saw it already three weeks ago and three times (yet); and I'm fast in forgiving, so I'm already more or less making peace, for there were just too many too good scenes to hate the whole movie.
I wrote four "BotFA Bashing" gags the first days after I watched the movie the first time, and they were pure acid. In the meantime I changed details of them, because I felt they were destructive somehow. And I feel better since.
I didn't want to tell you how cynical or disappointed to be, I mean, who am I to claim that, but maybe my experience can be interesting for you, that I found much more recovery in loving what's good than in hating what's bad, if you understand what I mean.

It wasn't that bad,at least not after the third time watching, and I say that as somebody who's annoyed with Legolas since I first read the book.
I would have made a positive ending after: 'There's hope left!'
Or can you name me one big Legolas fighting scene that was ever ADDED for an Extended Edition...?
See, trust Lady Galadriel. She can even carry wizards on her arms.

Glad to see a new toon of yours~ And yeah, Elrond has reason to question. Very, very, very few scenes from BoFA remind me of Tolkien's book

Ekstra!

Ja będę miała to samo, a potem wyjdzie rozszerzona wersja.
No cóż, pozostaje fanfiction

Nope. I liked it. I don't understand what scenes you mean was replaced--I just felt like they added a lot. Fili and Kili actually got to be characters, Thorin had an awesome battle sequence, and his ending with Bilbo made me cry. In the book, the war involved Bilbo being unconscious and then Thorin going Yo I'm going to die I guess I forgive you peace out. Also Fili and Kili are dead.

This was hilarious. But the movie wasn't all that bad. I can say that now that several days have passed since I first saw it. You would probably have appreciated my purging diatribe directly after my first viewing more, but alas, only my sister heard that.
On the bright side, they put the introduction-to-Beorn and the Bombur-falling-in-the-enchanted-river sequences back in the other extended edition . . . or a version of each. I still have some hope.

Yes yes yes! *applauds frantically*
Btw, I totally lost it at Elrond's "There's a book?"
And I love the thought of Boromir being a staunch book-lover and therefore Dwarf friend... he didn't want the Ring for himself. He just wanted to re-edit BoFA! There now even might be rumours as to who REALLY put those arrows into Boromir's chest... *explicitely not looking in the direction of a certain over featured Elf prince*

I really need to see that movie (even if my heart breaks, I want to see it with my own eyes...)
