Description Update: After taking the feedback from the comparison deviation I submitted (which is now deleted), I've changed the look of the battle system. Most of the scanlines are gone, I've added curved corners and also the message/controls box is a lot smaller. This now means, as shown in the right screen, that large sprites can fit.

What do you think?

XENOTIME's new battle UI. As you can see, it's taken advantage of the wide-screen resolution well, by filling up the space with the enemy and player trainers. There are also no bits for the PokΓ©mon to stand on, since all of the backgrounds I'm using have a large area of ground like here. I'm going to change the bit where it says "What will MUDKIP do?" etc soon. Any suggestions for that?

It's a scratch game made in RPG Maker XP. It'll only be playable on computers and is a .exe file.

Nice backgrounds peeky sound like from Rpg maker 2003. but you used HG/SS Sprites intead of BW the BW Sprites sound fit better using with backgrounds. Keep going

They're actually from a DS game, I really like them. I suppose it would, but then I'd either have to double the size of them (which I think looks bad) or have them be much smaller than the player. I will!

I did try out a lot of different resolutions, but since I'm using a 16:9 aspect ration it starts to make the maps look too small when playing, since they were all designed around the original 240x160. Plus I would have to redo all of the menu system yet again.
I may do it when I've completely finished the next demo.

I love the interface, and the widescreen format. Battle backgrounds also make it look very nice. I think the trainers in there are making it crowded though. I think it would look the best if you got rid of the trainers, and place the pokemon in the middle of the edge, and their respective HP bars. Just my opinion though.

I do agree that it looks a little crowded, but I really like the concept of it and want to implement it in someway. Do you think it'd be better if it only showed the enemy trainer?

Well, if they're both out (or just one) it would seem like the pokemon are attacking the trainers as well. Maybe during the respective teams turns, the trainer can come out, to like give directions? Idk how hard that would be to do. But that would be one way to implement it.

Sorry for the slow reply. That's a good idea, but as you say it could be hard to code. I don't have a scripter as well, so I have to do it all myself.

For a menu dialogue suggestion, you could put 'What's your next move?', 'What next?, 'What will you do now?"

The background is definitely engaging as well as the resolution. Love the UI-neat, clean, and simple.

I think it's fine as it is. I don't think it needs change. Unless you wanna make various options to change it.
