Description From the chapter "The Silver Doe" in Deathly Hallows. Yes, I know. Everyone and their mother has done this one. But it was such a sweet scene. I couldn't pass it up.

I know there wasn't snow on the ground in the scene, but I always just pictured it anyway. Made it more miserable somehow.

I'm trying to power my way through a stack of old, unfinished drawings on my desktop so I can get to work on my portfolio things. This one has been sitting around for a few years.

I was staring at this for a while before I noticed the snowflakes, or rather sleet, falling down. ThatΒ΄s just the perfect last touch

Thank you! You must live somewhere with cold winters--sleet is exactly the right word for it.

Oh, IΒ΄m glad I remembered the right word - since IΒ΄m on DA, I have to dust off my English vocabulary, which has been neglected for some years. SchoolΒ΄s been out for 25 years now
And yes, I live in the German Rhine lowlands, where winters are mostly cold, wet and unpleasant...

Remembering the word 'sleet' is pretty impressive! I used the word a couple of times while in the mountains in Southern California and no one knew what I was talking about...

I think this one is my favourite from your gallery. The composition has so much power. You can really feel the tense atmosphere, and the cold of winter. Great depiction of this scene, really.

I'm pretty sure there was snow, wasn't there? It was right around Christmas.

Anyway, nice work!

I read it again recently and there WAS snow! It threw me off a bit because there was a spot described that had no snow, so I thought the whole area was snowless.

Thank you!

Oh. My. Goodness.
There's nothing I can say that others have not said (at least you have some really amazing comment-ers!)
The footprints, the perspective, the desolation, the coldness, the...just...wow.
It's one of those pictures that just says "that was the way it was" to me.

You took such an angle of the view that I can feel thoroughly that they are very alone here - two teenagers in a big, cold, hostile forest.
Poor boys, that's all too hard for them.

I love everything about this. It has this perfect, utter stillness after such turmoil. I love the battle written in the snow... Ron clutching the sword for dear life, still slumped and shaken. Harry with his arms limp being very "Harry" and unsure what exactly to say.

It's like a storyboard for how the image should have been shot in the movie. Amazing.

Haha, indeed everyone and their mother has attempted to draw this scene but, honestly, this one is on of my favourites.

The point of view is really effective, I particularly like how Ron isn't situated exactly in the middle and the way you painted that stray branch and the trees' roots. The shadows and the footprints add a lot to the whole thing. Another thing I love is the absence of detailed faces. It adds so much it's crazy! The poses are perfect and give an idea of the characters' emotions, but exactly because these emotions aren't exactly clear, the lack of discreet expressions is just right! Trying to put the characters' emotions into detailed faces wouldn't make such an impact in my opinion. The way they are creates an amazing atmosphere but in the same time leaves a lot to the viewer!

So yeah. THIS IS AWESOME.
