Description The sailing ship Balclutha, also known as the Pacific Queen and Star of Alaska at various times in her career. Launched in Glasgow in 1887, she is now a museum ship in San Francisco. To the right is the Newcastle steam tug Eppleton Hall (launched 1914) which is undergoing a partial reconstruction (a reversion to an earlier appearance, in fact).

It's Fleet Week right now, and I wanted to get some photos of the fleet, but I'm working down the peninsula, so I'm never near the water (maybe next weekend; the USS Carl Vinson is here and I want to see her). Until then, here's a classic ship.

San Francisco, CA, 2011.

Enjoy,

WHOOT!
I can say that I have actually been on this ship. Now it was years ago but I can say I walked her decks.

Balclutha is really impressive up close, I should really go visit all of the ships there again sometime soon. One of them (either the Balclutha or the C.A. Thayer, which is moored just to the right of this picture) has a photo of my great grandfather when he was captain of a lumber ship in the 19th century.
