Description
First completed project of the year and it's already quite depressing. It's good to be back, though.
This is based on characters and events from Until the End, a long running thing I'm doing that's probably never going to be complete but yeah, this is based on it (I say based on because it's not exactly canon). This is Amber, mourning the death of a fellow freedom fighter at a makeshift war burial ground, where planks of wood and broken weapons are used as grave markers. The deceased's friends lovingly carved a wing in her marker, to honour her service as a pilot.
As the burial site was made bordering a war zone, it's regularly plagued by airstrikes, which is what's happening here. What I was trying to show here was the absolute cruelty and humiliation war inflicts on many of its victims; destroying their lives, tarnishing their legacies, and not allowing them to be mourned.
I used this stock photo by faestock (dA is refusing to link to her, no clue why) for pose reference, and got a lot of inspiration from this photo of a Ju 87 attacking a British supply depot in Libya. Here's the album I saw it in, there's a lot of other amazing WW2 photos over there as well.
Oh, also, it's pretty hard to tell but on the pilot I'm just not going to name because spoilers maybe? is a flag that says 'She was free'. On the sign tied to the gun on the right it says 'Father of two, brother of many. Miss you buddy.' I thought of putting a name on it, but thought that would take something from it.
I'm rather proud of this one, and I really hope you guys like it.

Wonderfully evocative of a war-torn world. And it's epic in a very personal way. Great work!

I really love this picture. ^^
As I always said, drawing landscape is one of your strongest skills --- and it is something I don't have.
I think it's quite that you can draw background from different perspective; it's not flat and can be as outstanding as the character.
I'm also really enjoy visiting your gallery. It's like travelling in another country. Different from other original project, yours is not typical. And it definitely inspires me and gives me a piece of "life" to my project. (One chapter in my project has something to do with "wings" too.) Thanks for visiting my gallery, and just want you to know -- I enjoy visiting yours.

Well thanks again I did try to capitalize on it when you last mentioned that, so I'm glad my efforts are showing.
I've actually wondered why your work never involves landscapes, but your characters are so imaginative and detailed that a detailed background would probably distract the attention from them. That said, I'm very interested in seeing any attempts at drawing landscapes you might make, your style is so unique I'm sure the results will be fascinating.
I'm really honoured and glad my work inspires you I find your gallery intriguing and unique as well, so cheers

Because I'm not that good at landscape. Hahaha
It's the most difficult part for me. It needs time and effort to go into details.
When I spend too much time on it, I find myself lost in the background and loose my focus to draw an entire picture.
So, that's why I mostly avoid drawing it.
But I think I can't run away from it that long, since I plan to start my project soon.
Background is an important part, so you'll see my effort soon.
And probably, you will see your creativity in mine. It might hide somewhere in the background.
Cheers.
