Description
I haven't submitted anything in a couple of years, but I'm now back online and still painting. This was painted digitally using Photoshop CS and a tablet. I mainly wanted to try out getting different textures. The stock photo from that I used for reference was one that I really wanted to use, thus this pic was born. I had no idea of what to use as a background, so threw this one together using stock from and as reference.
As always, critique is encouraged.
Please fullview. The textures show up much better than in the preview pic.
Edit: Did a minor fix on a pipe as suggested.

love it, most people over do the character design drastically, to the point where they look impractical and ridiculous, but in yours, the character is more or less simple, and for the steam part its more in the back round, it blends really well, now I,m not any of a good artist, and I don't know any real drawing terms, but bravo friend.

Great to have you back mate!
The atmosphere in this is great, as is the posture of the main character and the pallette. My only critique is that you could have worked a bit more on the background, espcially to the right of the image: the joining of the two pipes look a bit skewed, and the pipe that bends in the background looks somewhat sketchy.
But what I do like a lot, is that you seems to have developed a much nore personal style than last time I saw you post something - it looks like you're a lot more in control of what you are doing now, and that's definitely a step in the right direction

Thanks.
You are so right about the background. I didn't really clean up the sketchiness in that one pipe. Since it is the line that draws the viewer to the face and is right by the face, it should have been finished more. I noticed the skewed joint as I was working on it, but was anxious to get the work finished, so didn't get around to fixing it.
I'm glad to be back and glad to have fellow artists such as yourself give me such useful comments and critiques on my work. Thanks again. I very much appreciate it.
