Description Its been a long time since I did something in a single sitting... for 4 hours at least, and I think it went rather well, that said its clear my hands hurt when it came to the background.

This is actually technically an art trade from back in October with [link] with the theme of something mildy skeletal attacking a pirate ship. Another thing to note is the 2004 date, no I did not start this is 2005, just I created Gonslayer back then. This is also the 4th attempt at this drawing, the first 3 sucked.

I hope you all like this drawing, it took half the time of my last one and I would like to think its on a similar level, this one was more about having a creature interact with something (i.e. obliterating the ship) and trying out a vague background in ink. Neither aspect came out especially well but they wernt intended to, the focus was very much, as allways, on detail on Gonslayer itself.

I usually try to have a lot of variation in my works, but a snake doesn't really give a lot of scope for that, hence the massive head to allow for more design opportunities, I hope this drawing comes accross as fairly varied rather than repeatitive.

I'm impressed by the detail you put in; even that small rock in the background! The setting does look similar to Sea Monster... but no complaints there!Good job, old fellow!

I was going to add rain, but I thought that would drain out the impact and thanks

Very epic. This is by far your best work. You have done other variations of the same thing, so you knew what to tweak to make it look cool.
I noticed that your creatures look like bosses to old arcade games. I've never seen people draw them with pens, so this is wonderful.

My favorite part of this whole thing is the boat. I just love boats that's all. You've got me wanting to draw a mecha v.s. the navy battleships. . . but I must improve on other things!!! Why have you done this to me?

I can tell all the way that you have perfectionism.
I have that too. . .

If I were to critique this:
9/10 overall... which is near perfection compared to the pros.

Thank you, quite a surprise to just log on and see you posted a coment one minute ago coincidence much? I actually might re-do this drawing adding detail to the background

Make sure that the forefront object doesn't blend with the background details.

I know, I was thinking to do the background in pencil, but I thought that would be lazy so maybe not.

I think you should keep it the way it is.
Really, it has lots of details, and for me. . . I've been holding back on the details, and look at how much I've changed.
It's the impact to the viewer that matters, not how much you can cram into it.

PepsiBiofusion In reply to Rhuuka [2012-01-24 23:12:50 +0000 UTC]

I mostly agree I certainly believe the more detail the better, but ONLY if it doesn't comprimise the impact, which with ink it often can
