This has been in my scraps before. Many of you seems to like this WIP-series, it shows a lot how draw. So I post it in my real gallery fo all to see.This picture shows steps on how I made my Jack Sparrow drawing
I made a scan almost every hour,, Totally this drawing took me around 30 hours.

I need to know what pencil gives me a nice pitch black color like the one you used for his hair every pencil ive used doesnt come out as black GREAT job awesome work!

Haha, I always do the outline of everything first, then I move on so that I don't find that I screwed up royally halfway through the drawing. XD

very good tutorial thx. i need to draw him again and try your drawing like you did. starting with the eyes n then go on...i personally hated drawing his hair. dread locks are cool but really suck if you have to draw them^^

When I outline I measure some parts with a ruler to get the proportions right.

This is grea! I get really amazed by pictures this good, as I have never been able to draw like this. I was wondering, as you draw do you ever find that your hand smudges another part of the picture? It always seems to happen to me. :/

Thanks! Not so mych no. But I got a tip for you. I have a piece of paper under my drawinghand. It keeps the rest of the drawing clean.

how did you do the texture on the skin and dread locks? i couldnt see up close what that looked like.

I've never seen such an advanced grasp on detail and light, and shading! Some people have the gift. Some people attempt to draw Jack Sparrow and fail miserably...it's something about Johnny Depp's eyes...you either hit them spot on, or you completely botch it up. you did a fantastic job! kudos.
