Prince Alistair and Prince Existential Qrisis have been good friends since they were foals. Qris was a few years older than Alistair (they're maybe ten and six here), but they bonded none the less once they began spending time together. It was refreshing and comforting to have another hybrid around, who understood what it was like to not be entirely pony (neither boys were actively picked on for their differences--nopony was going to try to bully a prince--but they always felt a bit like the other in their friend groups and classes). They quickly discovered how much they had in common besides their status as hybrids--pranks being a huge mutual interest--and have been joined at the hip ever since.

As teenagers/young adults, they begin a romantic relationship
