Description
Being married to Princess Luna, Fluttershy finds herself the sister-in-law of Discord, husband of Celestia and Zecora (poly). In an even more soap opera-y twist of events, the in-laws are also exes! Luckily by this point the two had repaired their friendship, and are back to being close.

Fluttershy is Aunt Fluttershy to the trio’s kids. Having missed a great deal of Discord’s first foal’s childhood, she makes sure to be very present in the life of his second, his daughter with Celestia, Methodical Madness. Maddie is about the same age as Fluttershy and Luna’s son, Dream Catcher (the wee blue boy <3), and the cousins grew up to be extremely close. They’re both contenders for calmest in the royal family, and spend their time together discussing books, magic, and politics. Fluttershy is close to her niece as well—the two chat over tea, Maddie listening eagerly to anything the pegasus can tell her about animal science.

When it comes to her nephew, Existential Qrisis, and youngest niece, Alto Stratus, Fluttershy doesn’t have quite the same bond as she does with Methodical Madness. Qris, as the castle’s resident dark-minded chaos being, isn’t extremely fond of her. They’re perfectly nice to each other, but they don’t mesh. Fluttershy wishes she could be closer to him, but if Qris doesn’t want to like somepony than it’s a lost cause. Alto is a similar case of incongruent personalities, with the alicorn being the cunning, manipulative politician of a pony that she is, but at the end of the day Flutters is still the cool aunt that Alto can pour her heart out too, and they get along well.
