Asiatic lions are already somewhat smaller than African lions, and Kion, in my interpretation, eventually grows to Mufasa’s size (Mufasa isn’t gigantic, but he is bigger than the average African lion).… Rani can still tackle him to the ground, though; that’s more about the element of surprise (Oh, and in case you’re wondering, their kids pretty much inherit her size—the birth went fine )
