Disclaimer: Percy, before you read this and take offense: NO. I like the pic, but I am offering what I think is constructive criticism. You don't need to remake the picture. Just keep it in mind for future work.
Not bad. Especially if you made all the models for the scene. I'd tell you that a littlebit of bevels go a long way to improving the look. Without bevels (then smoothing), the edges look like a razor-sharp edge. I've had (and still have) issues with creating bevels because you need near perfect topology. No points with more than 4 connected faces, edgeloops that are actually edgeloops, etc.
I like how subtle the floor is. It's not glaringly obvious there's space between the boards, but it is also not obvious that it's a flat texture.
The texture on the beam, the wood grain specifically, is off. If you are going to show two sides of the beam, make sure you got your grains (or atleast their style) matching. One side here has a more quilted maple feel, while the other looks more like cedar. The devil is in the details.
My final recommendation is to try to keep a similar feel in the picture. Everything but the floor looks simple or cartoony. The floor, though is realistic (and damn fine). Artistically speaking, you want the eye to levitate to the subject of the piece (in this case the cook). If my eye sees "awsome amazeballs floor" that's what I am going to see first.
Edit: I forgot to mention that these kinds of scenes benefit greatly from little details. Instead of making it full-spartan in nature, little things like picture frames, hand soap, kitchen items, stuff on the wall in the back or in background, magnets on the (fridge?), buttons for the oven's display, fitting rings for where the faucet and hand controls connect to the sink, window seal trimming, door frame, etc.
In other words, there's a bunch of whitespace, and that (plus logical issues in some things) make it kinda uncanny valley.
