In answer to 's question "What is she doing?" --- "... the title was inspired by my little niece's expression during meditation classes. The little girl liked to do as the adults did, and would get involved in the classes. She would scrunge her face in concentration, much like the way JB is doing here. And the way JB is holding out her arms and her right leg in this pic, I thought she looked like she was trying to meditate and levitate!
"... but the truth is, she was actually doing a stretch (in the middle of her sleep), and this shot was taken at the very end of that very full stretch!"
thought JB might be with little kittehs because of her size, and I told him ---
" ... ahhh ... no, no, that ain't possible ... JB's spayed ... no little helium ballloons levitating all over the place ... omg, can you just imagine that vision?!!
JB loves sleeping on the bed. So when she became the blimp, we had a wooden ramp built for her to access her fave spot on the bed. On weekends, when the sheets are changed, the ramp is moved away from the edge of the bed so that she won't be able to get onto the bed and be in the way. Some weeks after the introduction of the ramp, we found her on the bed on sheet-change-day. We questioned her on this apparent teleportation, but she wasn't telling.
One day, she was caught in the act. She sat on her haunches, staring intently at the bed for a long time ... calculating distance, weight, and force required for lift-off.
The blimp is no wimp.Β She's fat but strong, and if I'm on a swivel-chair when she bunts, I actually do swivel some! ... nobody bunts like JB bunts!
When her weight starting going up quickly a couple of years ago, we thought she was greedy and eating up other cats' share of food. So we separated her from the others to better control her food intake - we put her on a special diet for obese cats, and the quantities were carefully calculated and measured out. Still the weight climbed up.
We brought her in to the vet to test for hypo-thyroid - results were negative. Because of her weight and her age, the vet was concerned about diabetes and the condition of her liver and kidneys - but blood tests results all came back normal. In fact, her readings were better than most cats her age! The vet suspects it is a hormonal problem, but there's nothing that can be done. So all we can do is continue to control her diet, and pray that her heart and lungs and bone joints can hold up to all that weight.
Up until two years ago, when she was already 10 years, she was lithesome and strong and fast. And she was always in the pink of health, never a sick day in her life. It makes us wanna cry, to see her like this. Fortunately, she is a very contented cat. She is still active, and full of curiousity and life ... for that, we are grateful.
Here's a pic of JB in her younger, and lighter, days ...

Fortunately I wasn't eating, or I would be extremely choking.
