I don't believe she cares what animal it is, although the shape might be important - so yeah, you may be right about the croc business! More likely than not, it's like you say, the material and the feel of the stuffing.

This Amazon croc looks like it's the right material - soft and satiny. Measurements are kindna small though. You have inspired me! I shall continue looking!

She so loved them. Had them since she was a kitten. When they fell apart a couple of years after these photos were taken (from the many washings), we bought her a few other types of plushies (this design was no longer available) but she rejected every one. You can imagine how frantic we were.
