She never saw it coming. She thought if she was polite, followed instructions, that... that... Being a teen detective was never suppose to be like... like... like this!

The goon caught Emily by the back of her green sweater before she smacked her delicate face into the splintery wooden floor. He dropped the vicious baton with a rattle upon the blue box. Then taking a deep breath, he tucked Emily's drooping body under his arm and hoisted her up.

"Okay, easy does it, just a little... Hrrumpfh! Phew!"

He bore the brunt of her weight by cradling one hand beneath the backside of her hip. The other he placed high against the back of her nylon clad thigh, holding her in place. It was the way a worker might handle a heavy bag of sand, or sling sacks of potatoes.

Emily's legs dangled without a care in the world while her short plaid skirt flipped about as though modesty were optional. Had she been awake she would have run out of the room scandalized and red faced knowing that the dark top portion of her pantyhose was on full display.

Following gravity blindly, her torso twisted and angled downward, leaving her head to dangle upside down, a rose on the stem of her neck. With the blood rushing to her head, the metaphor held all the more meaning. Her long red ponytail flipped down, swaying lazily with the motion of her body.

In fact the only thing that remained rigid was her arms, still held captive in place behind her back by the irksome and biting metal handcuffs. The joints in her shoulders were crying over the fiery nerve endings suffering in such agony. It was the vicious blow she received to her head, that spared her aforementioned sufferings.

Emily was steeped in velvety darkness.

"Now I know you must be thinking right now that this is unfair. You'd probably be begging me and pleading. There would be snot dripping from your nose, and your makeup would be a mess from all the tears. You wouldn't practically get a word out between the hiccups and the hyperventilation. And you would say something like 'but I promised!' And really, that's sweet. It really is. But the truth is... you're just a liar Miss Lockwood. I would let you go, and then you would end up doing what you always do. You'd poke your nose into things you ain't got no business doing. And that's even after you'd been properly warned against it."

"It's what you detective-type girls always do. You beg and you plead, and you promise that you will be good... but as soon as you get a second chance... you waste it. You get yourselves back into trouble because you always believe that there will be another chance. Sure I could have let you go... but Dr Moore's work needs to go on uninterrupted. And that's why I gotta do this."

The goon spoke conversationally to the oblivious girl hoisted in his arms. If his lessons were getting through to poor Emily, she gave no sign of learning. He approached the green box and yanked the top off, leaning it against the wall. With a heavy grunt, he lifted Emily's small body hovering it over the yawning opening.
