I wish I could do that with a paintbrush... One of my favorite books. Too bad not many people really understood it when we did it in high school.

The hair is gorgeous. I love the inclusion of the butterflies - it gives him a more at-peace feeling, while the quote provides a nice, bittersweet contrast.

This picture is so beautiful. Did you use watercolours?
It's nice to see fanart for LotF that isn't gory. I know the book was like that, but still.

This is one of the most absolutely gorgeous pictures I've ever seen. One of the most sad ones too. It IS Simon. The butterflies add to the Simon-ness.

I just read this book in English a few weeks ago <3 Simon broke my heart. He was such a great character and a haunting little soul. I sort of would prefer to see his features a little softened because he is very young in the book, but it's okay because you remembered he had black hair unlike that old movie from the fifties. I love itloveitloveit <3

wonderful job with the watercolors. The skin and the hair look gorgeous. I've never read this book, but I mean to eventually (I've seen the movie but it was years ago and I've forgotten most of it).
A few suggestions: one, there's an amazing range of tones in the hair and colors in the skin. his brown shirt (or jacket maybe) really only consists of brown and lighter/less saturated brown, so it looks a little flat in comparison to the rest of him. I think darkening some of the shaded parts of the shirt/jacket would help.
The lines defining where his chin and neck meet are at a bit of an angle; from the position the neck would curve up to the chin a little more.
Also, the painting is beautiful but the white background is kinda plain in comparison. I think a wash of some sort (suppose it's too late for that) would have made the background more interesting.
Hope this helps

This is absolutely fantastic! I love this so MUCH! You did this without reference? Oh my god, you're so good with watercolor you made it look so realistic.
Beautiful...simply beautiful. Whenever I see serene pictures with butterflys it reminds me of the opening of The Butterfly Effect so pretty...;~;

Initially no, though as I was working on it I thought the same thing but I didn't really want to add the blood. So either way. But thankies!
