So here we have my entry for *abosz007 's awesome showjumping competition
It's our Trakehner HS Sir Ultio I hope I got the dry Lake right and the obstacle, I just made it - as natural as possible xD

The only thing I said about the shoulder is that it is stocky and needed to be lowered, regardless of 'style'. I meant you can keep the style, just lower the shoulder to make it more realistic. When I critique I critique mistakes, things that need to improve etc. and most of the time the person I'm sending it to starts spewing bullshit like 'its mah style'. Now don't get me wrong, you're a good artist but i'm just helping you improve.

Well - yeah but I just... uhm... like the way my shoulders look o.O I always draw the line that high, that's it, even if it looks not realistic, I still like it, that's just what I wanted to say
And I appreciate it, it's good to hear the mistakes I make, just some of them are - in every picture, like the shoulders and hooves, so I wouldn't say these are mistakes
I agree, that the hind legs are not good, it's just pretty difficult to draw poses like that, I think x)

If your trying to make the horse realistic, then a shoulder shouldn't be 'your style'. If you really paid attention to the critique you would know the mistakes in the shoulder. I'm a rider for western and english (not constantly though) and I still need a reference when drawing horse and rider combos. But anyways this thing may help but without critique you won't get anywhere.

I never said I do oO I mean, I want to draw stuff in my style... Horses don't have eyebrows, but I still draw them, you know what I mean? I even think my hooves wouldn't work, but I like them the way I draw them, that's why I don't change them, that's all 
yeah, I like to get critique, it's just, that some things you mentioned are just because I'm neither a pro, nor do I want to be one, because some of the 'mistakes' are just the way I always draw them and want them to look

First of all, the front legs are ok but should be a tad longer, and the back legs are just whack. They are WAYYYYYYYY to short and stocky. Second, the tail is to low and the body should be shortened. Oh, did I mention that the shoulder area starts to high? Third, the whole area looks close to sideways, I would suggest making it a bit more horizontal rather than diagonal. Fourth, the rider should be leaning closer to the horse and her left arm should be lower. Her feet should also be lower and the stirrup leathers should be longer. The horses chest should also be a bit more..noticeable. Last, the horses neck is too curvy and should be straightened out and made wider. Also, may I see the reference that you used?

Well, the shoulder thing is just my style, I always draw them like that, you could see this, if you would look at some other pictures
I'm not a rider myself, so I need many references for the rider, that's why there are mistakes, but not only here, I know, that the positions of my riders aren't perfekt at all, but I never said they were, did I?

Of course my anatomy is not perfect, but I still want to practise special poses to get more experiences... That's why I need and use the references for poses like that.
