Let me start by saying that this is an excellent picture, but it could have been better and, if you return to Arches, I think you can improve on it. The fact that you know the name of the individual peaks in the La Sals tells me that you do know this area well. First, I agree with you that the right edge of the picture adds nothing and can be cropped, although finding the exact point to do that will be tricky because of the features in the middle ground. This will have the added advantage of moving Balanced Rock out of the exact center. I would say you have truly mastered the skill of first taking a series that would stitch together and then of doing the stitching. At any rate, do not become a slave to your technique. Not every picture need utilize the entire width that you are capable of. As you discovered afterwards, the picture would have profited by a narrower view. Like you, I know the location well. I cannot be sure if you were on the paved road itself or a bit back on the gravel road. I would have moved a good 50 feet or even more to your right and shot back to your left with Turret Arch at the center of the frame. I think there is a bit of a rise there that would have enabled you to lower the camera angle and given a clearer view of the La Sal Mountains, which are, after all, the most important element of the photograph. As impressive as Balanced Rock is, it warrants its own close up. This picture includes Balanced Rock, it is not a photo of Balanced Rock. Sometimes, when there is so much in the frame, we tend to take everything without prioritizing what is the relative value of the parts and focusing on the best. I hope this is helpful. I wish I had known, when I was taking my pictures, how easy it would become to stitch them together. What I hope I have done is given you a new mental approach to your future panoramas.

Not only is this a beautiful photograph in its own right, but it's a terrific reference for a war gaming table I'm working on.

Hrmm...I thought I had that info in the caption, but apparently I left that blank.  Or DA didn't include it.  Must update.

But to answer the question, a total of 25 images (5 HDR frames of 5 bracketed exposures each).
