Description
Artificial Evolution is a classic topic of artificial life.I am interested in understanding the principles of biological evolution; in the spirit of the synthetic methodology, the understanding of biological phonomena can be greatly enhanced by trying to mimic or model aspects of the biological system..
Evolution has worked pretty well for biological systems, so why not apply it to the systems that control robots?
Evolutionary computing has been tapped to produce coherent robot behavior in simulation, and real robots have been used to evolve simple behavior like moving toward light sources and avoiding objects. As technology advances who knows what we will see...maybe this image is a reference to the future...complete artificial life....a life that has evolved.
In a collaboration with `pixelcatalyst this is what we present, concepts surrounding this area..it truly is fasinating, who knows what the future holds. Im pleased how it turned out, damn that crazy 2d took me a while...I guess you could say this piece was to celebrate 100k pageviews, it was also released in the latest depthcore pack 'evolution'..
Oh and yes i know this has been ripped 100's of times, and people keep claiming it as theirs or a 'render' but no..pixelcatalyst is the main creator of the model and i did the other work. If you see it elsewhere just note me or pixelcatalyst, cheers..

Whoow, this is awesome! I really like it. Have you thought about making it into wallpaper form?
I'm Fusion Linux project leader and we are looking for some images that we could include in by default in our Linux distribution.
We have tens of thousands of installs, and we would also list all artists that have their art in our distribution and spread the word of your great work that way.
If you would consider this proposal this would a lot to us, because we would like to share and promote great artwork that you have made.
Please check out our home page - [link]
We need all art to be in few different wallpaper resolutions, and licenced under some Creative Commons licence that permits us to distribute artwork freely, just to be clear you still keep all the copyright just give us permission to distribute it for non-commercial purposes. If you aren't familiar with Creative Commons licences I suggest you use "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs" and also check full list of differenc CC licences at [link]

Heh. Someone must have been rummaging thru the pile. This is from a time long gone, it's like a piece of visual history at nearly the height of a now seemingly dead (genre) visual era and deviantArt was a completely different world back then.
I remember this one well.

Oh my gosh....
Indeed...It seems that on order to acheve perfection, every system must engage in some kind of evolutionaly stage...so, it is only natural that one day (preferably on our lifetime) we will be able to comunicate with completely artificial sencient life forms...Imagine what humankind shal be able to attain by working side by side with such beings...a better future...and a bright new dawn without the shadows of war....

i think this is semi related
but recently around may, the several news broadcasting companies announced the success of J. Craig Venter Institute in Rockville, Md in their attempts to create an artificial cell.
they succeeded in codeing a DNA gene sequence using computer technology, and implanted the sysnthesized DNA into a bacteria called Mycoplasma mycoides.
the mycoplasma mycoides with synthesized genome continued to divide, it is no longer mycoplasma mycoides, it is its own species.
so technology is already paving a way in the evolution of biological life on earth
now where this will all go, thats anyone's guess.

I remember hearing about artificial life evolving, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. Is it like us evolving, or is this a different subject for artificial intelligence?
I should probably bring up the fact that they did something like this in a Futurama episode called "Clockwork Origin", but that concept seemed more like a parody of the whole thing.

though as I strain my brain over it, I suppose it really comes down to nature vs. nurture, but I'm sure an artificial intelligence would be able to supplement that without the same means humans would

It can perhaps be questioned, also, why she would even require a human like face, let alone other human-like anatomy, or any animal anatomy for that matter. But I suppose the whole idea of a robot is that it resembles a human in one way or another.

Wow very fantastic work! And it is possible to create artificial intelligence, I'm not sure if you heard about it but they created a system sort of like binary that counts in 0, 1 and 2 which brings a lot of potential for sooner down the road. Mind you they need to put a chip on a bacteria if I read the article correctly, because that's the minimum of processing power necessary. So more of a cyborg thing I suppose. Actually I plan on dedicating a part of my life's work as an engineer at creating artificial life capable of asking itself abstract questions that humans can do.
But congrats on the DD and amazing artwork!!

I know I'm late for the party but I think the pose of the model suggests it was suspended properly before, and for some reason (accident, someone's frustration, neglect) it had been 'bent out of shape', so to speak. I was thinking the study or diagrams below it might have been more effective if they were shown in its prior state: the properly suspended pose (or totally supine), so we would have an idea how orderly it was before the 'chaos' set in.
It remains a wonderful collab project. You both should celebrate its anniversary lol
