Description Due to all of the flooding that affected Pakistan during the 2020s El Nino weather pattern period, a small inland lake/sea opened up along the Indus River Valley. Named the Sea of Brahui, the region would become a major population center and flourishing ecosystem going into the 2110s. The city of Sukkur was also rebuilt upon the foundations of what was lost, becoming one of the most populous cities in the Sindh Republic. On the opposing side of the sea, the mouth of the upper Indus, north of Sukkur, is the city of New Tariqabad.
The remaining Islamic Ultranationalism seen in the former republics of Pakistan and Afghanistan can now be seen in Pashtunistan, and some of Afghanistan's old Taliban politics have also come to influence the Tajik Empire. some of the old Kashmir Conflicts have also bled over into the constant religious conflict between the Theravada Buddhists and Twelver Shi'A Muslims of the Ladakh Republic (largely the persecution of the Buddhists by the Islamic majority). Shinastan has also become one of the last places to house the Noorbakshia Islamic sect, which has also consequently come under fire by the Twelvers of Ladakh. Ladakh is also the primary exporters of Himalayan Salts, even more so than Tibet surprisingly enough, due to having gained back the Aksai Chin region during the collapse of the larger nations wrestling over the greater Kashmir Region around the 2040s
Punjab, on the other hand, experienced a major paradigm shift in religious ideology among the youths of the 2060s, and some have even come to form Sikh and Shi'A syncretic religious theology, in cities such as Faridkot and Firozpur.
Hindustan, after the fall of India and technically the same government as said former Federal Republic of India, has fallen into an ultranationalist fit of rage, constantly threatening to take back the nations of Dravidia and Maratha at the *very* least, despite being economically incapable of such. Mass migration from India to places such as Trinidad, French Guyana and Brazil, have created a unique "Hindustani de Sudamericana" subculture.
Konkani have also become a socioeconomic powerhouse, developing a similar political model to the Japanese, focused on industry and national welfare, obviously at the expense of their economic stability. the Konkani Rupee as of 2110 is worth 0.000056% of 1 Euro. At least it's worth more than the Hindustani Rupee. Yeesh.
By the 2110s, relative stability has returned to the region, out of what felt like a near-eternal relative "Dark Age" for the whole middle east and south asia, and perhaps what could be constituted as a cold war between Hindu-Buddhist and Islamic nations. Stability yes. Satisfaction, not quite.
Oh! wait! The Pamiri Revolution in the Tajik Empire, how could I forget.
the Tajik don't like to think of the Pamiri as being a different ethnolinguistic group, actually, and keep trying to deny their existence and say they're just anti-imperial scum. the Tajik Empire however has an impressive economic grip over the manufacture and trade of of petroleum products, medical machinery, and poppies/opium. This has led to some of their primary consumers turning a blind eye to the Pamiri. They do however see mercenary-based assistance from outside nations willing to fight for ethnolinguistic nationalism and anti-imperialism... or anti-Tajik racism-- whatever floats their boats at this point.
Persia also, considering the Tajiks their ethnic cousins, is backing them militarily as well against the Pamiri.
