Description perhaps you'd like to escape,
avoid the skeletons in your closet;
avoid the pesky reflection
in the looking glass.

seeking a holiday from self,
you purchase the ticket,
but can never seem to travel
far enough away.

Perfect. It sounds like an Oasis quote.

Just...

Perfect.

Very deep. Seems to me that you need a vacation yourself. Escape the everyday bullshit that so many of us have to put up with. Perhaps... Ah, maybey I'm overthinking things. I tend to do that quite often.

in some manner, i feel as though i am on vacation at the moment. sentiment can be its own escape.

This is very true, dear Peter. I sometimes feel that way myself. Although at this more the only thing i feel is utter aggrivation.

why so aggravated, dear kelly?

To be honest with you, Peter, I'm not quite sure. Aggrivated at myself mostly. I've been letting things get to me lately.

Ah yes, that pesky reflection gets on my nerves quite a lot! I avoid mirrors, frankly.

i do not have the burden of the literal reflection. only the burden of the proverbial one. but, then again, don't we all?

Yes, we do. Sigh.

What would I give for a holiday and get away from all the studing and VCE madness.

Well, I wish you luck on writting another 78 short poems and til then, it looks like you'll have work cut out for you.

Hmmm, and who are you speaking to, dear Peter? Yourself? Or the woman who may be trying to escape HER past, HER actions? Powerful stuff, Poet.

peterdawes In reply to denlm [2008-07-25 23:36:21 +0000 UTC]

perhaps to both.
the poet often wishes he could escape himself.

i do not know about her.

i think
perhaps
she has forgotten
who she really is
somewhere
along the way.

The question is, will you remind her? Is she worth fighting for, or are you throwing in the scarf?

peterdawes In reply to denlm [2008-07-26 00:30:58 +0000 UTC]

does she wish to be reminded? and of what words?
husband and wife?
master and sire?
father and mother?
lover and best friend?

i am weary. and lonely. and desire something other than my dog to wake beside in my bed.
no offense to echo.

I can't believe I am going to say this, but maybe you need a vacation from all that angst. Man -- and vampire -- cannot live on poetry alone. And if she can't see you've reached the bottom of the well, then she must accept her role in your temporary defection. Replace the dog.

take a look at the latest poem, to a siren. peer at the responders. see if one comment sticks out at you.
i shall say no more.

omg this is like, my THEME. I love it. I use that saying way more than I should, especially in Travel Diary. Traveling and wanderlust are my favorite poetry topics, and so this poem brings me great joy, especially with your style applied to the theme. The mirror, etc, I see some relation to vampires in this, maybe!

*chuckles* perhaps so. that non-existent reflection.
i think we all suffer from a bit of wanderlust from time to time.

thank you. i am glad you enjoyed the poem.
