my eyes are blinded to the light.
within the darkness, i reside; dead to myself.
trapped within the lie that prevents me from knowing
when footsteps trod into the murky waters of remorse.

i am dead to it. my soul, it lingers in the shadows.
it hides away from being exposed to truth.
lest you see my flaws; lest you see me as anything
other than perfection incarnate.

perfection must be mine, i say.
cut out my eyes and blind me from the light.

my soul cries for the darkness
to take it under into the abyss;
the protective cocoon, where reality fails to touch my
bones of glass and ego made of porcelain.

with crystal skin, i walk around.
gouge out my heart, lest i start to feel.

i am dead to love and selflessness; dead to humility.
i am but a charlatan; an actor on display
playing the only part i know how to play with unction.
i play the fool with masks to hide the lies.

i pour the wine of deceit to all who follow me.
i fill their plates with fancy tales, hiding the truth
