Description the look within your eyes
your warm and
green-eyed stare
gentle smile sweeping across
crimson lips
subtle fragrance upon
your skin
somehow, i still sense your presence
somehow, i still hear your voice
echoing through time and trial
speaking soothing words within
a chaotic soul

you always knew how to still me
just by the look in your eyes

a thousand lines of verse
to capture it
a million words of prose
to convey it
how enraptured you've had me
day after unending day
and as one man's waning sunlight
becomes another's dark sunrise
i can spy you within
the colors of the sunset
before the black of night
takes hold.

the glow of starlight shining
through the
emerald-colored gaze
the ethereal, enchanting
reflection of moonlight
hiding somewhere
in your stare
surrendering my soul to you
each evening as I wake
as I rise and find myself lost
within memories of you

you always knew how to still me
just by the look in your eyes

you,
the first notion that dashes
across my mind
wild-spirited and free
daring me to chase you
even after all these years
the first image that traces
through my mind
the moment my eyes open
the moment i feel the first embers
of sunset's warmth
upon my skin

you,
a familiar sight
i've never tired of seeing
it quiets the melancholy
it brings a smile to my face.
even when i realize
the solemn truth that
you are yet far from my arms.
still the thought that
comes upon me
reminds me
we'll be together again
someday

your gaze carrying
across the miles.
a kiss blown
on the wind to me.

yes, you always knew how to still me
just by the look in your eyes

good evening, dearest

I'm reminded in a somewhat foolish way of the ending of the movie "Hook" where Tinkerbell tells Peter "You know that place between sleep and awake? That's where I'll always love you."

Do the denizens of the night have a similar place where they miss those that are bound by the day? Dawn and dusk, the only place they might coexist?

"Good evening, sweetheart," said the long way perhaps?

Dear Leonie, once again you flatter me.
Thank you kindly for the favorite. It is good to have friends who indulge one's poetic musings.
