Am trying to decide which of his novels is the best to procure first. Perhaps some research is in order. American Gods is just the one that's stuck out at me.

I haven't read any of his works (apart from being half-way through Stardust) XD So unfortunately I cannot help you. I must say that American Gods stuck out for me also. ^^ But mainly because Loki is in it the Norse god of mischief is always fun
