within the mirror of self-examination
there lies the truth of all i see before me,
the clever acts orchestrated by those
with myopic wisdom, who would call
the innocent a traitor.

cast aside, the loyal from the camp.
relegated to little more than a rumor,
and i shed crimson tears in response
for his honor, the banner i now defend
with heart and soul intertwined as one.

who would make a martyr a villain?
who would warp and twist reality
into the charlatan charade i now watch
with fists clenched and eyes
brimmed with tears?

who would shed the blood of the blameless?
silver lies spilling from the cup to be
lapped up by gold-plated tongues,
while peels of laughter ignore the wounds
of he who stood and bled with honor.

let not the ignorant be tricked.
the smoke and deceit, the venom
belonging not to him, but to those
who stabbed caesar with the
weapons fashioned by wicked hands.

the poet speaks his peace.
through the seeing stone, he watches the folly
and with bitterness he hones the dagger,
words meant to defend the one
he has come to love the most.
