Description
The Adeptus Arbites is the adepta of the Adeptus Terra that serves as the galactic police force of the Imperium of Man. They are responsible for enforcing Imperial Law (the Lex Imperialis) on all Imperial-controlled worlds. The High Lords of Terra have granted the Adeptus Arbites the right to serve as judge, jury, and executioner for any Imperial citizen they discover having broken Imperial Law.
Most planets have an Adeptus Arbites presence, and the arbitrators are based in grim precinct fortresses to remind the population of the unyielding nature of Imperial law. Most worlds have a single Precinct Fortress with a few regional stations. The Arbitrators are a feared force due to their loyalty to Imperial law over everything else. Even a Planetary Governor can be arrested by the Adeptus Arbites should they harbor the Emperor’s enemies or seek to throw off the yoke of Imperial rule.
While they are a formidable presence with eminent authority, Arbitrators only act to defend Imperial law and have little influence beyond this.
