Description

Master of Sieges, or Master Bombardier, is a high-ranking artilleryman in the 11th Legion who specializes in siegecraft. They have decades or even centuries of siegecraft experience. Many learned their craft from the seventh or fourth Legions.

During a siege operation, the Master of Sieges oversees the overall siege. He has all or most of the artillery available to a grand company. This comprises a howitzer battalion of eighteen 150mm (6 in) self-propelled guns, two batteries of Morbus Heavy Bombards, one battery of 203 mm (8 in) self-propelled guns, one battery of Land Raider Helios, one battery of Land Raider Ares, and two batteries of Vindicators.

Additionally, a Master of Sieges has access to specialist troops. A siege force has Terminator Squads, librarians wielding glyph lightning, and Devastator Squads with lascannons and missile launchers using bunker defeat munitions (BDMs).

The best Siege Masters are invited to serve among the Siege Dancers, the 11th Legion’s elite siege specialists. These savants have discretion in using prescribed weapons, including atomic, chemical, gravitic, and phosphex munitions. Any Chapter that needs their expertise can receive detachments from the Formation.
