Description
for World-Craft Contest 2Desert predator - first round.
The theme was to create a desert planet predator, which will in turn be preyed upon by predators in the next rounds, so I decided to make an amphisbaena-like burrowing worm. the creature is supposed to be up to 50 cm long. not too small, not too big, but big enough to make it clear that this worm means bussiness
the front and rear ends of the animal look practically identical. This is an adaptation to confuse predators into thinking the rear of the animal is the front, which opens a free escape route for the worm.

Guh, that is a creepy-looking critter! This particular brand of scales is well-designed and unusual on this sort of beast; nicely done!

Dune's sandworms, graboids, Mongolian death worms... and this; seems like all desert vermiform creatures share the same traits
Nice concept!

Very nice
Are the scales used in burrowing or just as armor?

the head has thick scales used for burrowing, the rest is used as armor only, but I think they could be used to produce a rattling sound as well... hmmm....

Yeah, if they can rattle, what I was thinking is that they could be used like setae on earthworms, able to push or scoop through tunnels.
