If I might ask, what are the flaps near the hindquarters on the top creature, and what happened to the fore-limbs in the bottom creature?

2) got repurposed into canards
these two concepts are not compatible hwever, I am still trying to figure out their basic external anatomy

yay thanks! I still need to settle down on how the limbs are going to be shaped, which pair of limbs is going to be the wings and which the walking legs. it can be both back pairs, it can be the large wings only and it can be the hindlegs, although I am concerned with them becoming too front-heavy if that were the case, so probably some could use all fours and some only the middle legs? or should the middle legs simply be the legs and the "canards" should be much larger and be the main wings?
