Description
I spotted these bones recently, while on a walk at Veterans Memorial Park in Warwick, NY. "Dem Bones" is a spiritual, composed by author and songwriter James Weldon Johnson. First recorded by The Famous Myers Jubilee Singers in 1928, both a long and a shortened version of the song are widely known. The lyrics are inspired by the prophet Ezekiel, who prophesies that they will one day be resurrected at God's command, picturing the national resurrection of Israel.Related content

Yes, what you are referring to is Ezekiel 37 - The Valley of Dry Bones where God asks Ezekiel to pray over the bones in order to make them live. Very interesting story. Very symbolic in a lot of ways.
But, back to the shot here.
I actually like this shot very much. Black and white works perfectly. I don't think the artist could have gotten this effect any other way.
The angle as well works. Straight down. You couldn't have gotten the effect from any other angle. Working from the sides would have taken away from this shot significantly.
I tend to wonder what those bones belonged to. Hard to say, maybe a Veteran? e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="

The range of this shot is just right as well. The artist pulled back just enough to fill the picture perfectly. Not too much, not too little. Scaled back just enough. I am thinking of another word here, but can't bring it to mind that describes what I am saying much better. But, the artist scaled back just enough to fill the shot perfectly.
I really, really do like this shot. It is nearly perfect.

As part of my latest decision to start a new Secret Santa critiquing solo session, I've decided to feature your deviation as the fourth of five reviews of mine; also keep in mind that what I say in my review is purely from journalistic speculation. And with that, I hope that you'll enjoy my review of your photograph. Let's get started!
Vision: There's a sense of macabre old-school truth to it, like something straight out of the Hitchcock playbook; and yet, it retains a gritty feel to it that the eyes would see something like this as genuine with the right amount of interpretation. Five stars. Nice work on that front, by the way!
Originality: Given what I see here, the bones and the muddy ground (or is that gravel from the road?) complement one another nicely, and the perspective of which the photo was taken seems quite natural and has a sense of urgency and importance to it, despite its caveats and the fact that it's a grayscale photograph. I wonder what it would look like in full color? Anyways, nice work on this end of the deal; four stars.
Technique: The technique, I would imagine, is simple: you took your photograph at the precise moment when your gut instincts and emotions within you called for it to become a reality; that being said, your overall mood that this picture gives off is remarkable and leaves a morbid feel to it, and I like that. Four stars.
Impact: I'm not overly thrilled with it, but I honestly can say that the way in which you carried it out confirms in my mind that you can make it professionally in photography and may already be thriving in it now. So, with that said, you've undoubtedly left a great first impression with me on this one; alas, I give it three and-a-half stars.
Nonetheless, I would go as far as to say that the sharpness of your photographs speak volumes based solely on what I see in this recipient photograph and the nine on the right that are featured in your gallery. Sure, there may be room for improvement, but you've got everything on point and down to a science; therefore, you've got the fire and the determination to do this possibly as a career and you may even profit off of it quite well. Excellent work on the deviation in question, my good friend!
