Description
Taken the day I had skin cancer removed and plastic surgery done to try and minimize the resulting scar. It's called MOS I believe, and it was an amazing process. The only things I felt were the sting of the needle which administered the local anesthetic, and a little pressure as the doctor cut away the cancer. This happened last Tuesday morning at 7:30 am, approximately. Then, the patient waits while a technician prepares a slide so the doctor can check to see if (in this case) he has been able to remove all of the basal cell carcinoma cells on the first.Normally, it takes two or more attempts to remove all the cancer and not too much more, as the more he or she removes the more they have to "fix" with plastic surgery.
I was very lucky. He got it all out the first time. After he sewed me up - 15 stitches worth, during which time I could smell burning flesh and blood and guessed, correctly, that he was cauterizing the injured capillaries - I left the office, with the small bandage which is barely visible in this photo. I was out of the office in about an hour - by 8:20 am.
Other doctors offices where the same procedure is performed inform you that the whole process could take up to 6 or 7 hours.
I was fortunate. Nothiing more or less.
And very grateful.

Pretty much what I had today. 9-15-2016. I could not see the procedure, just felt it. It took only about 10 minutes, but the suspected basal cell is gone. I hope. In 2 weeks I'll know.

I just had a big basal cell removed from my left side above my leg -
It's so good they can remove these things - the worst was the stitches - boy they itch! -
Did ya end up with a nice looking scar?? -

The one on my arm is healling pretty nicely - I have a scar about the size of an eraser head, but it's flat and blending in pretty well. I have a nasty looking scar on my leg, and the one they removed from my forehead was using the Mohs plastic surgery method: There's harly a scar at all, and it blends in with some natural crease on my head.
