This is a really great manip. i am not qualified to give you an advanced critique on this because i really don't know that much about photo manipulation.....yet.
i really like the ripple effect and the colors you used. They fit together well.

Thanks! It was pretty simple, technically. I took a digital photo of a sunset over a nearby bay and played around with the ripple effect in Photoshop. The art involved, I think, is in coming up with the concept and manipulating the variables - until one comes up with an image that one is satisfied with: The hard work is done by the computer, lol...

It can be a frustrating program - and I am nowhere near an expert on it - but the more I play with it, and attempt to find solutions for things I want to alter/change/fix in images I'm working on, the more I learn. My problem is retention: unless I use a newly learned lesson often, I tend to forget it. And I've been single again for how long now? Lol...

i know what you mean about using a new knowledge so it becomes part of what i KNOW! Retention is sometimes difficult for me too. Spanish was very difficult to remember because i never spoke it more than 2 days a week most of the time.
Perhaps, over the summer........

The size of this is a bit too small for a photo. It definately needs to be bigger so that one can see more detail. Also the quality seems to be poor, I can see a bit of pixelation, but I don't know what you can do about that besides using a camera with more megapixels or saving your work at a higher quality. One last thing: you should crop the top and bottom of this so that only the rippled part of the photo is showing and none of the uneffected clouds. That way the effect will be more surreal and immersive. With higher quality and a larger resolution I think that this could be a very beautiful picture, so keep trying!
