This photo is definitely unique. I wonder how deep the log does into the sand? It is a log, right? Now that I'm looking at it, it looks like a rusted object. It doesn't matter. I think it adds interest to the usual (but still very pretty) tropical beach shots. The only thing that puts me off a bit is that the log (rusted object?) seems out of focus and I wish there somehow could have been a way to put more focus on the water spraying from it (although I'm not sure how). Other than that, it's an absolutely fantastic shot. The beach looks so beautiful especially at this time of year and it makes me absolutely envious. The water is clear and reminds me of swimming in it a year ago... I love the photo, you did a wonderful job on it.

Thank you Jen, it is rusted steel possibly from an old mooring buoy. Your comments have given me an idea how to approach this subject a little differently. Thank you again.

This is an amazing picture.. You did a really nice job capturing the splash. Im not sure if that was intonational or not but It looks really good! I gave you 5 stars on all of the categories but vision think you found yourself a real hobby here. A really good technique to perfectly timing water and liquids is by trying to take a single drop of water. And trying to get it bouncing when you can time one of these perfectly you can master water clashing against objects and also get some of the blur out on the impact and and motion.

Thank you Andrew, it was intentional, I took a series of photo's and waited for the big wave. Later, on examining the results I thought it looked like an impact splash.

and you pretty much nailed it remember the water drop technique. if you can land a water shot without shutter your doing amazing for yourself

Thanks Keith, I manipulated the image to suggest a missile, of course it is something much more mundane.

It's probably the remains of a Β steel mooring buoy or something like that.

It almost looks like a rusted out 16-inch battleship round.
