Am I the only one who noticed how he was similar to Captain Nemo from "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea"?
Heck, the whole stage seems to be a 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea Shout-Out.
Even his ship, the Iron Whale, vaguely resembles Captain Nemo's ship, "The Nautilus."

I think the joke there is that Treasure Knight is incredibly greedy when you go to fight him he is a room with gold stacked high and he claims to own the sea itself
