A colored version of Sailing the Skies , the first piece I requested from .I'm nuts about skydiver girls. I have found very little art on the subject in years of looking; it's just not a thing a lot of people think of.
I am still playing around with coloring art using SAI. I'm still discovering little quirks and finding quicker, better-looking ways to do things. I'm not quite happy with Usagi's hair; it feels like I used four different techniques to do the shading on the four different panels and none of them look quite right. That said, I'm never going to be 100% satisfied with my own work, so I might as well throw it out there so other people can take a look and tell me what I'm doing wrong. So please do.

I'm just a little bit crazy about the whole skydiving thing. Having done it, it's still the greatest thing I've ever done, and I look forward to the chance I get to do it again. But for now, I enjoy putting characters I like into this situation to see how they deal.

I remember when this was just a WIP. I must say, there were some bits I liked more there than here, but hey, at least it's actually done now, lol.

I changed my approach quite a bit between that one and this one. I love shoxxe's work, but trying to vector it at my low level of skill is damn trying. I felt I lost a lot of the detail.
Anything in particular you're thinking of that's better there than here? Colored lines rather than sketchy black? I'm jonesin' for constructive feedback here.

Okay, most of this was more color choice than anything else, but here goes:
#1: Usagi's blue/white container
#2: The jumpsuit's blue coloring on the leg region (More resemblant of the costume that way)
#3: The aircraft was just plane silver (pardon the pun. I like the yellow here and all, but silver made the aircraft look a bit sleeker, IMO.)
#4: I'm not trolling when I say this, but I actually kinda like the jumpsuit with no star on it in the WIP, as jarring as it was to see that. It was more rookie-like like that, as expensive as it is to get a symbol embroidered on a jumpsuit like the ones Minako and Rei wear in "Sailors in Flight," lol.
None of this should really be taken seriously; again, it IS just color choice feedback after all.

Fair enough. I kind of felt like I had to use the same sort of color scheme I used in Sailors in Flight . Though since all of the colors are kept in layers in the SAI files I'm working with, it's easy enough to go back and recolor things if I want to make a variant of this pic.
Not enough of the container is visible in either of these pics to do much with. I'm leery about adding new lines to any of these; anything I add or change is going to stand out from shoxxe's original lines. I had this idea where the container looked kind of like the front of the sailor's uniform. You'll see it if I ever post the colored version of the Midair Rescue pic.

Works for me. Haven't really thought much about that pic, anyway... (If I did, I'd have canopy designs all rarin' to go for a comment on the colored version. Guess you get the chance to beat me to the punch for once.)
