Finished this guy up Jan 1st 2009
The WIPS and model sheets are on Photobucket, but I'm lazy so I'm only putting this one here. The whole thing is custom art based on the sprite from the SNES, not the Genesis version. The sword however is based on Sonic's sword in Sonic and the Black Knight. The Nintendo Power cover gives a pretty good render of the thing, so I tweaked it a bit to make it look better for Sparkster. Either way, this guy is coming along nicely; hopefully I'll get him finished up within the month.

Though is he going to be lighter-furred like he used to be? I've always liked him with the lighter tan fur.

Yup - it's a little later and I've already finished his texture and added the fur shading. At first the fur was giving me some trouble - he looked like he had cotton balls stuck to his face (check out my scraps). But eventually I figured it out, tweaked it a bit, and it looks very good. His fur is lighter colored now, more in line with his original orange-y/light brown color. It looks really cool; I'm quite proud of it right nowXD
