IT IS HUUGE
Some of you have been asking on how I do the gloss for my charms, so I decided to do a full tutorial on how I make plastic charms!
I use the Shrink Plastic made for printing on. (ITS THIS ONE:
[link] ) I get mine at Michaels (somewhere around the Scrap Booking sections) (if your outside the US I don't know where you can get them, sorry ;^; )
If you have any questions that aren't already explained, just ask!!

I have a question, how do I put the print paper on the plastic? Should I use a specific kind of glue? Great tutorial, it's very helpful! Thanks~

You print directly on the plastic. Which is why you need to get the Printable ShrinkyDink kind

Thanks for this! If I may ask, is there something to replace the powder thing with since they dont sell that here? Like could I gloss it with what I use to gloss my clay charms?

My shrink plastic warped in the oven, but instead of being pliable so you can unstick it it went solid, so we couldnt get it flat help?

PhantomCarnival In reply to MysticalMysticism [2013-01-20 01:56:26 +0000 UTC]
You must have let it cooled too much before flatening

Hmm, I'm having a little trouble. My charm comes out nicely and I press something flat on it so it's nice and straight. Then I put the powder on and whack it back in the oven. As the powder melts though, the charm curls up a little bit again. Trying to flatten it when it comes out results in the gloss being pressed too and coming off on whatever I press it with.
Does this happen to yours too? Any advice? Thanks

Truthfully its been a really long time since I've done these x__x
I -think- what I did was turned the heat down a little.

For some reason mine are all turning yellowish after I put the detail clear on Is it because I'm supposed to let the charms cool a bit longer before I stick them back in the oven? (it looks like the ink runs and any white part is ruined with this sick yellow hue)

PhantomCarnival In reply to KaidaFaye [2012-12-19 21:04:08 +0000 UTC]
Weird? Maybe your baking it too long? I usually let my charms cool first before adding the powder on.

KaidaFaye In reply to PhantomCarnival [2012-12-27 08:17:24 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that was it. I let them cool all the way before adding the powder and I kept an eye on the powder melting so that they didn't stay in too long. Thank you!!

Thank you so much this was extremely helpful.
I have a question, where do you buy the detail clear powder and what exactly does it do?

PhantomCarnival In reply to StoryShepherd [2012-09-26 20:18:49 +0000 UTC]
You're welcome!
Detail clear powder can be found in with anyone who sells scrapbooking supplies. Its usually used for Embossing and just ask where embossing powder is. It creates a clear, durable hard surface that protects your charm

Have you ever tried to make a double sides plastic charm? Or is it impossible to do without being sent to be professionally done?

This is a great tutorial! But I have a question :
Can you bake more then one at a time? I mean if you part them enough away from each other so that they don't stick. I was just curious, because in every tutorial they only show one shrinking, and it would be a time saver if you could do more then one.

PhantomCarnival In reply to NauticalSparrow [2012-01-16 18:46:43 +0000 UTC]
Thanks!
Yup! You can bake as many as you can fit in there (Just as long as they aren't touching- they do adhere to eachother if they do) Its just easier to keep track by doing just one for tutorials ^^

Do you put the gloss powder on before or after the charm bakes? :3 Do you like, bake it, then put the powder on, and rebake it?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
PhantomCarnival In reply to HannahFreakinBanana [2011-12-04 20:56:05 +0000 UTC]
Yes, you bake it, put the powder on, then rebake it (Sometimes helps with it de-curling)
