Bear in mind that a good majority of the things living on Idano are not found on earth, in civilization, or the wild.
Idano is a different world. Conditions are different, and as such, there are still giant feral creatures out there who, if given the chance, would eat you if they got close enough. Good hearing is almost necessary for survival if you live in untamed rural areas, as a lot of my characters do. :1
Big ears also help with body ventilation. Keeps them from overheating during the summers, as oh so many a human does.
But yeah, thats my speil. :1
