I decided to submit my idea of a DeviantArt Alias System after seeing this stamp: [link]It allows a user to keep their original username (for deviantart security purposes) and change their username to something more likable.
Of course, if a name is already taken, you can't change it. (Ex: My name is Phantomer, so no-one elses alias can be "Phantomer")
Also, alias's cannot be taken. (Ex: My alias is RottaRice, so no one can take that as their username or alias)

I'd consider founding a Group to petition for this, seriously. I'm still straddled between two accounts and it's been awful.

I'm ok with my username. But there are so many people, who hate their username (I hate the one of my old account), and would like to have another one as screenname. iscribble is doing this. You have a username that cannot be changed, but you can choose any screenname you want to. 8)
