If you're rooted, and/or have a cm12 based ROM (sorry if you don't understand):
 some cm12 themes have great statusbars, "Coalfield", "SolidAlpha" and "MaterialUp" are my favourites

If you're not rooted and/or dont have a cm12 based rom:
Sorry m8 I'm pretty sure you have to be at least rooted, that gives you the choice of using "Layers", but i'm no expert
