Shane lived a normal life on Mandalore, as a member of Clan Vancel, which was an ally to House Viszla. His parents fought alongside the Mandalorian Jedi, Kento Viszla. One day, during the events of the Siege of Mandalore, Shane witnessed his parents be cut down by Darth Vader, so he escaped using his father's ship, the Emerald Mythosaur. He formed his own group of freedom fighters/heroes-for-hire, The Survivors, with Kesta Zemlarr, a Togruta mercenary, Growar, a Wookiee warrior, Rygran Seskarr, a Zabrak Jedi Purge survivor, IG-96, a reprogrammed IG-Series Assassination Droid, and Elgon Thasskor, a Cathar guerrilla soldier. Together, he and his friends defend the galaxy from the Empire's tyrannical rule.
