Your first experiment?! Goodness gracious, your first experiment was a HUGE success! BWAHHH!! This is magnificent! I think I take a particular liking to vertical compositions like this in your work. This piece reminds me of the one you got a Daily Deviation on. In fact, I think I like this one even more.
This will be a short comment because there is a large cat lying on one of my arms and typing with one hand takes too long. XD

*likes the other piece better*
Thanks! I'm glad you like this so much though. I should be working a lot more with watercolours for awhile now, since it is my homework from my teacher while she is away travelling.
I'm sure it is a very dashing cat on your arm though. You should pet him.

Simply out of curiosity, do you have synesthesia? Because this is almost exactly how I perceive garlic. Well done, by the way.

Thanks! I have very slight synesthesia.

This is beautiful! And nice job with the watercolors! I didn't know that garlic had the power to recover lost souls! (all I know about garlic is that it tastes good and vampires don't like it!) When I saw the thumbnail of this piece, I thought this was you're version of the Dark Mark from Harry Potter!

Garlic has a lot of medicinal uses too. It's useful symbolically, and practically.

Out of mild curiosity, when you did the blue watercolor background, did you drip water (or alcohol) on the damp wash, or did you use another technique?

Originally, I was trying to get a different effect altogether. I did the blue wash, and then I went back while it was still damp and tried to add spots of a darker wash of the same colour. It turned out making white splotches instead. D: So do a wash and then dab in areas with a brush loaded with more water and paint, and you should get the same effect.

Ah, neat... I've never had that happen before; every time I try to add spots of darker wash, it always turns out looking like a horrible mushroomy morass, haha.
I've heard that sprinkling salt on a damp wash adds a really cool effect as well. I've never done that, but I'm planning on trying it out on a piece I'm working on

Salt does add a cool effect. You might want to try it on a separate piece of paper first though, so that when you use it on your actual piece you'll know how to work it a little better.

Gorgeous piece. I've always loved the look of watercolor, but it never worked out well for me when using it.

Thanks. I think practising for over a year with watered down acrylics helped me get the hang of this a lot easier.

This is wonderful. I think you handled the watercolors really well. It has a nice texture and flow to it. For your first experiment, I say you knocked it out of the park.

I like the greens and blues. It makes the picture seem fluid, which goes nicely with the long and flowing hair.

Love the entire image, love the long flowing black hair.
Wouldn't want it anywhere near that long though. The grooming would be a nightmare 80

It is magic magic vampire hair that is always perfectly groomed. Yep. Makes total sense.
