Description
Fan art of Mathis Quigley from the comic "Unsounded". He's my favourite in the comic so far for various and sundry reasons.Go check out the comic here: [link]

I'm kinda happy with the way this turned out, though the flaws are many and glaring. I'm getting better at inking, so perhaps there's hope that I'll get better at painting as well!

I just posted a new piece of fanart of the bird Sette meets in the Khert if you'd be interested in including that in your club gallery as well.

UNSOUNDED!!!!!!!! I love Quigley! It's a toss up between him and Duane as my favorites. Darling, this is gorgeous!

Gasp. I didn't know you read Unsounded! I like it a lot too. I admit I don't like Duane anywhere near as much as Quigley... though I'm sure I will once we see more flesh-craving craziness from him. Right now he's just kind of a fashion inept sheep-herder being forced to do a child's bidding. I love Unsounded to death though. I have no complaints.

I so do. It's one of my webcomic addictions. And your picture, it is so perfect.

Beautiful interpretation of Quigley! Your style brings a delicately ethereal touch to him. (: The inking and painting look lovely to me, gorgeous textures in the paint and the inked details are delicious to gaze upon and admire.

Glad I was able to do Quigley justice, even just a little.

I am not very familiar with mange and anime characters or drawing techniques, but this drawing really draws me in. I love the cool colors and the overall flow of the piece. Lovely!

*looks again* Still don't see of those flaws you speak of...
Remind me what brand of acrylic paints you use? I'd very much like to try this kind of watercolour-y technique you do. I love the effects it creates.
In my opinion, this is one of your bestest drawings ever. I think it's freaking gorgeous.

You can use any kind of acrylic paint. It doesn't matter what brand. I use the cheapo stuff. "Reeves" is a kind of a acrylic I use a lot. But any acrylic paint will do.

Whoa... I've never read that particular comic, but I might just have to now. This drawing is fantastic!
Gosh, is that watercolor? I can't believe how good that looks! Watercolors are dang hard to control. You make it look so easy. XD And fabric folds! You make those look easy, too.
(And if it makes you feel any better, I see no flaws at all.)

PhantomSeptember In reply to InstilledPhear [2011-07-07 18:48:46 +0000 UTC]
Yeah! Definitely go check it out!
Ehehe. No, this isn't watercolour. It's acrylic paint. Watercolours are too hard for me to control. XD So I just use acrylic paint. I think it bothers me that watercolours aren't... well... waterproof. So I don't use watercolours.

Acrylic?! Even better! Acrylic dries really fast compared to watercolor. There's almost a way to... erase(?) with watercolor. Not acrylics, though.
You talented fellow, you.

Yeah. I really like the way acrylic dries and doesn't become "undry" again when I try to put on a second layer. :/ I like the permanence of acrylics much better.

I can't help it. I love drawing. Sometimes I get frustrated that my art isn't as good as I'd like to be. I'll get there one day though!
Oh! Are we still doing the sketch trade? What would you like me to draw?

You know i know that feel, i just need to keep doodling and get right back upon the saddle again. I think drawing on the tablet makes me not want to draw...but having no scanner puts a damper on things. I'm having a hard time typing because this white paw keeps popping out from behind my keyboard and smacking my fingers. haha.
Yeah, you asked me to draw crane guy and i asked you to draw the baddest purple mofo on the planet, remember?

I used acrylics. Watercolours are too hard for me. XD So I just use acrylics as if they were watercolour.
