Description
Still practising with markers. Iβm kind of having trouble getting the kind of contrast I want with the markers. Unfortunately, I canβt figure out what the heck to do with the background. This is a travelling library snake. The books on the stomach ungulate and push the snake forward. Or something like that. Any suggestions for a background?Related content

I think... a desolate wasteland for the background, kind of a symbol for the wasteland the mind becomes when it lacks knowledge. And the book-snake travels around enlightening people and bringing life to the wasteland and stuff.

Yeah... except it's (the background) behind him so it's where he's already been so technically it should be lush, if I was going with that kind of imagery. :/

Maybe he's just arrived and is observing the wasteland from a distance?

He's awesome. My idea for a background is a world where books aren't wanted because he looks like he's saying "ARE YOU F**KING KIDDING ME?! I'LL SHOW YOU THE TRUE POWER OF BOOKS!!!!" Or something like that

Interesting! Any suggestions on how I'd portray that as the background? The only way I can think of to portray that would to just write "in a world without books" all over the background. XD

OUUUU. That's a good image! Too bad I jumped the gun and drew mountains. D:
So many people gave me great suggestions and I just went and put some ugly mountains in. :/ Should've thought it through more.

Only you would come up with a snake made of books. XD Hmmm, my suggestion for a background is....
Paper landscape! Like how the snake is made of books and paper, you can make trees and junk out of stacks of books and paper! Yeah!

Wow, this is definitely a nice piece. As always, your linework is brilliant. I've never used markers myself, but I can tell you did a pretty damn good job for working outside your usual medium.
As for the background, I was thinking some landscape might be nice, but make it a landscape made from letters or whatnot to keep with the "Library" theme. I dunno.

Thank you for the feedback!
Yeah, I've drawn the background twice. Once it was south-Chinese mountains... then I changed it to more Alp-like mountains... now I'm just kinda stuck. XD It is a travelling snake... so a landscape would be good.
