Description
Based on the Grimm's Fairytale "The Juniper Tree." By far the most bloody of the tales. Starts with a little boy being decapitated and goes down hill from there. You can read the whole thing here: [link]
I think I used too many lines... this thing looks a bit jumbled.

I remember reading this story in the library when I was younger, except that there were a few variations, such as... the step mother's of constantly taste-testing the stew, leads her to killing the stepson( who turns into a bird), instead of a gold chain the father is given a large bag of silver coins, and instead of a pair of red shoes the sister receives a bag of clothes belonging to a princess. Naturally the stone goes to the stepmother and killing her instantly.

This is so eerie...but oddly I like creepy-eerie stuff, so I think this is cool! And so detailed too!

This always was my favorite fairy tale, maybe I was a little bit screwed up as a kid, but when my brother first read it to me so I'd get scared, I fell in love with it <3

To be honest I didn't even know about that particular tale before now, and after reading it I have to say that this piece does a wonderful job illustrating it. It's quite impressive

Oooh. I remember this fairy tale. This is appropriately creepy. Donβt worry; I donβt think it looks jumbled. I always love all your details and textures and things.

Thanks! I'd like to do more fairytales... but I dunno. Maybe when I can wrap my mind around it. I'd like to do an illustration of "The Hedge King."

Oh wow, I really like it. I think the lines add texture to it, which is what I love about your work. It always has this depth to it. A dimension that your lines create. It's both old world and ephemeral. <3

Sorry I didn't comment much on this earlier...
It always amazes me how well you're able to create such beautiful designs and things without the use of references.
The amount of red in this is perfect. I would have been tempted to use more, but I think you achieved just the right effect.
I really need to read this story, too.

Well... it makes for very anatomically incorrect things. XD
Just follow the link! It's very short. It'll take you 5 minutes tops.

XD I find it funny how the mother doesn't die while giving birth...but instead she's all, 'my heart explodes with joy! 8D' *dead*
I laughed too when the poor girl was crying about how she'd knocked her brother's head off, and the mum was all 'oh well, let's make him into pudding!'
...I digress... I really enjoyed this story. It's morbid, hilarious, poignant, and just very cool.

It's supposed to be like that... I'm not a symmetry freak.
Plus it doesn't fit entirely in my scanner... so there's some cut off on the right side.
