Description
Marie was born in the everglades of Florida, a member of a clutch of seventeen eggs. She was raised in a somewhat backwoods community of oddballs and weirdos. At a young age, she found herself to be smarter than most of her friends and harbored a desire to escape her uncultured hometown. She did finally escape via college scholarships to a New York college.

In college she studied Biology and minored in physical education. She made few friends, however, and found out the hard way that few places will accept a giant carnivore without a trace of fear, her hometown being one of those few places. The few friends she did make, she approached first. Her tiny circle was known in the whispered conversations on campus to be somewhat promiscuous.

After college, she found that biologists were somewhat unneeded, and failed to find a job in her preferred field. She returned to her hometown, to find that a few of her sisters had set up a “Choice Parlor.” They offered her a position, and she had little choice but to accept, as she was without income and without prospects. Her job position, “Suicide Catalyst,” offered a pleasant end to the life of the customer for a fee. She loathed her job, however, and as soon as a position as a phys ed. teacher came up, she jumped on it and left her hometown again. She has not yet returned.

Her teaching position led her north again, to Georgia. There, she did her best to keep her past quiet—being a “suicide catalyst” tended to spook the parents of her students. Word got out, however, and she was forced to move again after a boy vanished and she was blamed.

She was unemployed for several years, but refused to move back home. Finally her break struck, and she was approached by a painter. The artist offered Marie a decent income if she would pose whenever asked. Thus, Marie became a fetish model. The artist was generally very discreet, claiming that a fetish didn’t have to be dirty to call to the fetishists. Marie also posed for pinups, and fans seemed to flock to her.

Though magic is frowned upon in civilized culture, Marie finds most of it fascinating, and through some meditation she came across a reptilian tutor by the name of Found-Her-Marbles. Marbles has taught Marie the basics, and occasionally Marie will still practice and meditate in secret.

She currently lives in the town closest to the artist’s home.

She can be found either at the local gym, swimming or lifting weights; or at the coffee shop down the block from her home, sipping tea; or in her first-story apartment, resting on her own coils and reading articles on the field that she originally chased so avidly.

The universe
Anthros and humans are both accepted in this universe, though anthros are more widespread. Humanity is dying out simply because there are so few who's blood is not somehow mingled with an anthro's.
Feral animals are distinguished from anthros by anatomy and intelligence. Of course there are feral rights groups, but most of their members are herbivores. Carnivores need ferals as a food source.
There is a tentative line between "prey" species and "predator" species. While it is possible for the two to enjoy life side-by-side, there will always be a bit of tension. Some have used this to their advantage in the work force, law enforcement, and even sexual lives. It is not uncommon for certain predator species to be initially viewed as a greater threat (sharks, for example, or alligators. Anything as large as a cat would probably have a hard time getting used to Marie).
Magic is possible but severely frowned upon; it is not uncommon for magic users to be falsely imprisoned, discriminated against, and in some cultures put to death. In Marie's culture, they are often discriminated against, and if brought to court there is no absolute guarantee that the trial will be entirely fair.
