Everyone continued chatting around the fire but Nova didn't pay much attention. Her mind was buzzing with thoughts. There wasn't a good reason for her to feel any hostility towards Acxa or Keith. She cared for the paladin, she truly did. But it wasn't love. Part of her felt guilty; since Shiro had come back--really come back--so had her feelings for him. Perhaps she had inadvertently pushed Keith away. Those feelings, coupled with her concerns about her body, made for a dull headache. Why had she started bleeding back on the cruiser? Why did it feel like she was suffocating when they were in space? Why did she feel so weak? She massaged her temples firmly, trying to lessen the pain when a heavy blanket was draped over her shoulders.
"Want some company?" She looked up to see Shiro tilting his head inquisitively at her. Dipping her head back down, she scooted over enough to give the black paladin room to sit. He sat to her right, his large frame next to her a welcomed comfort. He wore a worried expression on his face, but he remained silent, waiting for her to speak. He wasn't sure what was going on in her head, but he wanted to help. Things had been moving pretty fast since he woke up and they hadn't really had a chance to just sit and talk. And seeing her cough up blood back on the cruiser had left him feeling perturbed.
"Something is wrong with me..." she said quietly, so only Shiro could hear.
"You're probably just over exerting yourself," Shiro replied, peering at Nova's solemn expression. But he wasn't sure if he was trying to make her feel better, or convince himself. Perhaps a little of both.
"Yeah..." The others' conversations droned on and Nova felt her eyelids get heavy and her body struggling to remain upright. She felt Shiro wrap his arm around her shoulders as he pulled her close to him, her body relaxing. With her head resting against him, she could faintly hear his heart beating through his suit. She instinctively put a hand to her chest and let her fingers gently brush the metal piece embedded there. She clasped the thick blanket tightly to her as she felt a chill spread throughout her body, despite the warmth from her chest piece and the man next to her. This wasn't a feeling she was familiar with, but she knew what it was. Fear crept into her as she closed her eyes. She was never prepared for this and she wasn't ready. How much time she had, she wasn't sure. "Shiro..." she said quietly, as she began to drift off to sleep. "I think...I'm dying."

Hey all! So sorry for being MIA for so long. Since switching from Paint Tool Sai to CSP, I've been adjusting to the new program and it hasn't been easy. I'm a little overwhelmed with everything CSP has to offer but I'm slowly getting better. The new brushes work so differently than what I'm used to so I got pretty frustrated about half way through this and was so close to just scrapping it. But once I was about 3/4 of the way done, I started to get more comfortable with different tools. My Voltron LD fanfic "Becoming Human" is on Wattpad (linked below) and I would really love it if you checked it out! I really love my OC and her story and I hope you do too!
