So glad they redesigned his head for Super Metroid and all subsequent games.

Well, this is the design that appears solely in the game's manual as well as some merchandise, it was an artist's interpretation of the nes' relatively crude graphics. Regardless, I actually prefer this design to how generic Ridley has gotten over the years. I like his design in Super Metroid well enough, but his design has gotten way too streamlined and too dignified, as opposed to more beast-like.

Very true. I could barely make out what his design was supposed to look like when I played the original Metroid. And having him as more a mindless being than an intelligent nemesis is an interesting concept.

Yeah, I wouldn't say mindless per se, but nothing more than a being under the control of Mother Brain. Ridley became way too import as the series progressed, and it rather annoys me.

Ridley became more vicious looking in his newer games in fact I think his Metroid Fusion appearance was his most menacing. Nice work!

And I think I heard somewhere that Ridley had them built it for him to be a symbol of strength/fury or something for the Space Pirates.
And also theres implying he's a narcissist(if I used the correct word there)

If you want a more challenging Mecha-Ridley fight, get all the items first. He gets three times as much HP if you have 100%. On Normal he's still not too tough, but on Hard... hoo boy.
(If you want an even more challenging Mecha-Ridley fight, go for one of the 15%-or-less ending pics. You won't be able to beat him without refills, which means surviving his attacks for much longer.)

This is the second "Retroid" (yay I made this word up) image I've seen around here lately. The other involved Samus fighting a spider enemy while dressed in "his" suit from the NES art (red boots, gloves, green cannon with tubes attached to it)

He was depicted this way in the manual artwork. The manual artwork was how the artist interpreted the game sprites, and I get some of them(like Kraid having long green hair), but Ridley definitely confuses me.

Eh, I don't have a preference for Kraid. Each design is good in its own right. Where as I prefer this original Ridley to the current more Pterodactyl-like design.
