(Lol~ Because we're geniuses~? >u< Or maybe because the old Disney cartoon of Gulliver's Travels in Lilliput have Gulliver giving someone a ride that way? Not sure if you've seen that one.)
Matthew had to take a moment to register the odd sight, and feeling, of a twenty-year-old sitting atop his boot and clinging to his leg. It was definitely weird. But he finally nodded and took a small step forward to test it out, eyes not leaving Cedric. "You okay there or do we need to try something else?"

((Huh. I had completely forgotten about that, but you're right.))
Cedric hurriedly scrambled back off. "No, no, no, no, no. That was not fun," he said stammered quickly. "Too weird... just too weird... and not nearly a smooth enough ride,"

"Whoa, geez, Ced. You think you could act any moreΒ panicked?" Matthew stepped back from the archer when he scrambled off his boot, crouching down over him. "Look, you can get back on my shoulder. I'll get down low enough and you just climb up or something. Okay? Because it's hard to walk slow enough for you to keep up. My stride is already long, but with the size difference added on? I'm pretty sure that's just asking too much of you."

Phoenix-FireMage In reply to Amenarae [2014-02-25 22:11:51 +0000 UTC]
"Sorry..." Cedric muttered, taking a few steps back so that Matthew wasn't towering directly over him. In response to the giant's next suggestion, he raised an eyebrow. "Wouldn't it be easier if you just set down a barrels for a moment to pick me up?" he asked. "I mean, after all, wouldn't it feel really weird to have me climbing up you?"
π: 0 β©: 1
Amenarae In reply to Phoenix-FireMage [2014-02-25 22:17:00 +0000 UTC]
"Honestly? It'd be harder to put them all down for it. As weird as it'll probably feel, I'd rather not have to put these down to pick you up, them rearrange them all again and eventually stand. It'd take too long and I could chance you falling while I took them up again. But if you just climbed up then I'd just have to stand and be on my way; easy." Matthew shifted to kneel, hunching forward. "Now just climb my back or something."

"Okay..." Cedric said uncertainly, going around behind Matthew, grabbing two handfuls of fabric and using them to haul himself upwards. His feet scrabbled for a foothold, but he couldn't find one. Thankfully, the angle at which Matthew was leaning forward helped, and the small ginger was able to climb up him, if a bit clumsily, kicking him by accident more than once and continuing to cling to his tank top. Finally, he settled on the giant's shoulder with a sigh. "Sort of like climbing the Mountain at home... only covered in cloth, a bit softer, and warm..."Β

Amenarae In reply to Phoenix-FireMage [2014-02-25 22:32:51 +0000 UTC]
Matthew suppressed the overwhelming urge to flinch and swat at the sensation of his back being climbed. It was more than just weird, it was downright creepy. The teen tracked Cedric's progress up his back toward his shoulder, doing his best to keep still until the archer was settled. He allowed a slight shiver from the experience and then stood up. "Really? 'Cause I was thinking more of a hill. I'm not that big." he said with a small smirk as he started walking. "Geez, I can still feel it."

Phoenix-FireMage In reply to Amenarae [2014-02-25 22:42:07 +0000 UTC]
"I guess I should've been a bit more clear..." Cedric said apologetically. "The Mountain is just what we call this big rock near my house... it's probably smaller than you are, actually. So... it did feel pretty weird, didn't it?" He patted Matthew's shoulder with the hand that wasn't still clinging to his tank top strap. "Yeah, it was weird for me, too."

Amenarae In reply to Phoenix-FireMage [2014-02-25 23:09:28 +0000 UTC]
As the teen walked, he smiled at the idea of Cedric climbing a slightly smaller rock in the same way. "Maybe I could see it sometime?" he joked, giving the shoulder he was on a little playful shrug. "It'd be awesome if we could just hang out and chill for a day, you know? You're pretty cool, Ced."

Cedric yelped, startled, when Matthew shrugged with his perch, but he didn't admonish him for it. "Maybe we could..." he said. "I'm sure that the others would beappreciative Iif I kept you out of eeveryone's hair for a while," he added with a kind chuckle. "Though I fail to see what my temperature has to do with it..."

Amenarae In reply to Phoenix-FireMage [2014-02-25 23:30:47 +0000 UTC]
Matthew laughed at his comment, turning his head to look at him. "Man, are you sure we're both humans? 'Cause we may be speaking the same language, but you don't have a clue what I'm saying!" he teased. "'Cool' means I like you. You're fun to hang around! That's common lingo where I'm from."
π: 0 β©: 1
Phoenix-FireMage In reply to Amenarae [2014-02-25 23:36:57 +0000 UTC]
Cedric rolled his eyes, elbowing Matthew in the neck again. "Yes, I'm sure I'm human!" he said. "Not entirely sure about you, though..." he added with a chuckle. "And it must be a dialect thing or something, because I've never heard the word 'cool' used like that before!"
π: 0 β©: 1
Amenarae In reply to Phoenix-FireMage [2014-02-25 23:59:12 +0000 UTC]
"Eh, maybe. Or you guys aren't 'cool' enough to use it." he mused jokingly with a laugh. The conversation had actually carried them farther than expected and Matthew was already back at the camp, reminding himself to go around rather than through. Back at the tent of the mess hall, the teen knelt down to set down the ten barrels and reached up to very gently wrap his hand around the lower middle of archer on his shoulder and set him on the ground.

"Huh?" Cedric squirmed a little as he was unexpectedly lifted, and he reminded himself to tell Matthew later that he needed to work on his giving warnings. But for now, he was going to focus on the language issue. "There's that word 'cool' again... and you're using it in yet another way..."

"Don't worry about it." he chuckled. "Go tell the chef we brought the stuff. I want to get my arm checked, so let him know you're taking me to get that done, too." he told him, nudging him gently with the back of his hand to get him moving.

Cedric looked doubtful, but he headed into the building to explain things to the cook. A few moments later, he hurried back out, frowning. "He didn't want to agree at first... but he did now, so let's go before he changes his mind..." the archer said, approaching Matthew without much hesitation at all anymore.Β

"What made him change his mind?" Matthew chuckled, standing up and looking around. "Where's the medic tent, anyway?"

"I pointed out that you'll be better at making dough without a piece of metal in your arm giving you pain," Cedric replied with a shrug. "And that Doc prefers his patients to come sooner rather than later after their injuries." He pointed to yet another tent near the center of the camp, which stood out from the browns and greens of the other tents with its distinctive red cloth. "That's it."
π: 0 β©: 1
Amenarae In reply to Phoenix-FireMage [2014-02-27 02:39:29 +0000 UTC]
"Heh. Good point. Now I'd like to get rid of said metal in my arm, thank you, so let's go. And in the meantime you can get your ribs checked for any serious damage." He started walking in the direction of the red tent, taking care to watch his path for objects or otherwise unnoticed soldiers. He did a pretty good job of avoiding any such obstacles, though did almost lose his balance while trying not to snag a corner of a tent he almost hadn't seen.

Phoenix-FireMage In reply to Amenarae [2014-02-27 04:58:36 +0000 UTC]
Cedric hurried after him, hoping that Matthew would watch his step. Thankfully, he seemed to do pretty well, though the simple fact that several of the other soldiers made a point of getting out of his way probably had something to do with it. Soon enough, they reached the red tent, and the man known to all simply as 'Doc stepped out to greet them.
Β (( would you care to play Doc, or should I?))

Amenarae In reply to Phoenix-FireMage [2014-02-27 17:59:34 +0000 UTC]
(I suppose I'll do him, since you've got everyone else.)
Doc took one look at the overgrown teen, eyebrow cocked in question. When Fitch approached the tent after the giant he called out to him, eyes not leaving the blonde. "Fitch! Tell me why thisΒ is standing outside my tent?" he barked, eyes narrowed towards Matthew. The teen knelt in front of him with a slight scowl on his face.
"What did I do to get on yourΒ bad side, geezer? I'm a patient. Came to get my arm looked at." Matthew growled a bit, already mentally preparing for a fight.
The Doc ignored the teenager's tone and turned his eyes to the archer. "Private, if you're hurt then tell me what it is, stop trying to hide it. Step inside and I'll take a look at you."
"What about me?" Matthew complained, feeling as though he'd just been dropped from the conversation.
"Don't move. I don't want you knocking anything over." the man growled back before signaling Fitch to follow him inside.

((Okay.))
Shooting an apologetic look up to Matthew, Cedric followed Doc into the red tent. "I'm all right... just a bit of bruising," he said, though a bit timidly. "Matthew has an arrow wound, though, and possibly still the arrowhead inside his arm. Far more serious..."
π: 0 β©: 1
Amenarae In reply to Phoenix-FireMage [2014-02-27 23:35:37 +0000 UTC]
"Bit of bruising my..." he grumbled. "What? An arrow? How'd he manage..." Doc stopped to look towards the direction of the teen outside the tent. Green eyes peeked in and he groaned. "Fitch, what aren't you telling me? You come in with bruising, he comes in with an arrow tip embedded in his arm. I'm no fool, that sounds like the two of you didn't agree on something."
π: 0 β©: 1
Phoenix-FireMage In reply to Amenarae [2014-02-27 23:48:11 +0000 UTC]
Cedric nodded slowly. "You're right, we didn't..." he agreed softly, rushing to add, "But we've made up for it, though! We're on good terms now." He glanced over towards Matthew as well. "Doc, please... enough of the interrogation... could you just get the arrowhead out of him? We've got to go back to the mess hall and help make dinner..."
π: 0 β©: 1
Amenarae In reply to Phoenix-FireMage [2014-02-28 00:03:41 +0000 UTC]
Doc scowled at the large eyes before turning back to Fitch, wanting to just turn the teen away and further question the archer. But he didn't. He sighed and dragged a thick hand down his face. "Fine, Fitch, fine... But you're going to help me. Seems to me you've got a reason you're siding with this kid, so I want you to make sure he stays still. Because if he lifts a hand to me I'm not doing it. Have I made myself clear?"

Phoenix-FireMage In reply to Amenarae [2014-02-28 00:19:58 +0000 UTC]
"Yes sir, of course," Cedric said with a nod. Stepping back outside before the medic could say anything else or change his mind, the archer gave Matthew a small smile. "Well, he's agreed to get it out," he said. "But you've got to behave yourself. Really behave yourself. Got it?"
π: 0 β©: 1
Amenarae In reply to Phoenix-FireMage [2014-02-28 00:37:03 +0000 UTC]
"What? He started it, not me." the teen grumbled. Inside the tent Doc barked a sharp "Sit down!" and then the man appeared a moment later with a tray and some materials. One of which was a scalpel that caught Matthew's eye and made him cringe.
"Why aren't you sitting, yet?" Doc snapped, eyeing Matthew who in turn grit his teeth and allowed himself to thud down onto the ground and cross his legs Indian style in spite. "Still too tall." he muttered.
"Well what do you want me to do? Lay down?" the blonde snarled. "I'm not a dog, you know. And there's not enough room for me to just lay down here."
"Fitch, get a ladder from Private Connelly in the next tent over. Kid--"
"Matthew."
"Kid, put your elbow on your knee and lean forward more."
The amount of tension between the medic and the teen was nearly palpable.
π: 0 β©: 1
Phoenix-FireMage In reply to Amenarae [2014-02-28 00:41:00 +0000 UTC]
Cedric grimaced, hurrying to get the ladder. He could only hope that Matthew wouldn't do anything to anger Doc any further while he was gone... Thankfully, it didn't take him long to fetch the ladder, and without having to be told, he propped it up against Matthew's arm in a way that Doc could reach the injury from it.
π: 0 β©: 1
Amenarae In reply to Phoenix-FireMage [2014-02-28 03:08:22 +0000 UTC]
As soon as the ladder was in place, Matthew reached over with his other hand and dragged Cedric to the dip of his ankles, pulling him into the circle of his legs where he leaned over him and placed his free arm as a wall in front. It seemed he was going to silently grumble about it, and he intended to have the archer stuck with him while he had to listen to the medic.
Doc, however, did not seem to take to well to seeing his fellow man so easily hauled away by the teen. "What do you think you're doing?" he snapped at Matthew, but the blonde ignored him and simply shifted his arm to give better access. Doc saw that he wasn't going to make much progress on the boy by just talking to him, but he had no intention of simply leaving Fitch to the giant's whims. "Let him out." he growled.
"Fix my arm. Then I'll let him out."
"Is this a hostage situation, now? Let him out!"
"No, I just need him to distract me while you're cutting away at my skin! Do you want me to fight you while you're working on me?"
Doc stopped and sent Fitch a glance to ensure he was alright, but he saw the point Matthew made... "Fitch. You willing to distract him?"
π: 0 β©: 1
Phoenix-FireMage In reply to Amenarae [2014-02-28 03:25:02 +0000 UTC]
Cedric glared up at Matthew. "I guess..." he said. "Seriously, though, Matthew, did you remember nothing of what I said about not grabbing me? It's very annoying when you do, so cut it out!" With a sigh, the archer leaned against the large calf behind him. "And your idea of me 'distracting' you had better not involve handling."

(I doubt it...call it courtesy? ^w^ My character is named Xavier, he's got short, messy black hair, light brown skin, and blue eyes. He's 16.)
Xavier scowled, wanting to struggle...but he remained still, not wanting to take any risks. It didn't feel like the blade was very big...but then, it could just be a sharp point. Even if it was small, it still posed a threat.
"Who are you?" He asked, his mind still slightly blurry from sleep.

"That's not important," the voice snapped. A second voice, this one coming from a bit behind Xavier's head and only about a foot off the ground, sighed.
"Tell him," this voice said, sounding exasperated. "It won't hurt any." There was silence, so the second voice said, "I'm Colonel Tohen, and the man with his sword at your throat is Sargent Cordova. And you are?"

(There aren't any emotes that fit how happy I am at the current moment...maybe this one? Or this one? )Β
Xavier gave a heavy sigh. "I'm Xavier. And why is his sword at my throat, exactly? I can't remember doing anything wrong." He was tense, wanting to push the person away...but he didn't think he'd be able to get far enough before the men caught him, as starving and weak as he was.Β
And why were their voices so small? That second one sounded like it was coming from the ground.

The sargent made an unbelieving sound, but he removed his sword from Xavier's neck. "All right, you may get up," Colonel Tohen said. Once Xavier did so, he would understand why they had been so concerned: the two officers, as well as the half dozen or so other men surrounding Xavier with drawn swords and the two with longbows aimed at him were all only about a foot tall, making Xavier seem a giant.

Xavier's face shadowed, but he shrugged. "It's been about...two or three weeks since the last time I saw civilization. My size, I mean. I was dropped off somewhere..." Xavier sighed. "I suppose I am, then. I might be larger, but I don't know a thing about fighting." He didn't say much else, shifting to sit cross legged and placing his hands in his lap, staring at his crossed ankles. He had no idea what he was supposed to do now, in a land full of people that weren't even half his size...most of the time he just blended in with the crowds and did what he could to find food...but that wouldn't be possible here.

When he shifted, everyone around him stiffened a little, but they relaxed when it became clear that he didn't mean any harm. "We could probably get you to giants' country, if you like," Colonel Tohen offered. "The people there are roughly your height, I think..."
