Name: Dwarf Bulborb (also known as Dwarf Red Bulborb)
Scientific Name: Pansarus Psudooculli Russus
Family: Breadbug

At first glace, it's easy to confuse these small creatures as young Bulborbs after three molts. However, Dwarf Bulborbs only mimic Bulborb young. It's unclear at what point these breadbugs took to mimicry, but it proved an effective way at avoiding predation. In fact, it's not uncommon seeing several of these creatures congregating around slumbering Bulborbs. Of course, the fact they aren't nocturnal like most true Bulborbs is the first big giveaway that not all is what it seems with them. Indeed it's uncommon seeing them active at night, and they never grow to the size of a true Bulborb. That said, the disguise is clearly effective enough to fool Bulborbs, to the point some Dwarf Bulborbs will give an alarm cry to wake any sleeping Bulborbs nearby when something threatens them.

Valkyra's comment: Mr Trealcix's claims of them alerting full grown Bulborbs makes me nervous. I know these little guys aren't much threat on their own, but we should try to make sure they don't get a chance.

Phoenix's comment: It seems everywhere we go there's some sort of "fodder enemy" that we end up fighting a lot of in the various worlds. Goombas, Waddle Dees, Zombies, Zerglings, Shadows, and so on. Here, we have these guys.

Drago's comment: These guys really aren't too durable. Heck you don't even need to beat them the old fashioned way. Just drop on top of them hard enough and it seems to crush them.

Amber's Notes: There's been one lingering near the ship lately that seems more curious than hungry. It hasn't bitten me or anyone else, so we've all written her off as harmless. (and yeah, we confirmed it's a her) Sometimes I look at these creatures and wonder if we could learn more if we captured them alive rather than as the bodies occasionally brought back in underground expeditions.

Update: We were able to create something of an observation area some time ago, but the Dwarf Bulborb I mentioned, which we've taken to calling Debbie after a visiting friend called her that, has apparently been problematic. Not in a violent way, but she's apparently gotten too smart. To the point she doesn't really act like the other Dwarfs we have. Folks are starting to wonder if we should let her loose somewhere so she doesn't distract from other creatures. I was able to talk them into letting someone adopt her since she's gotten too used to people to ever reacclimate to the wild. And I think I know just who to give her to...

Debbie's comment: I probably could have said all of the above myself, but oh well. And if this mystery person is who I'm thinking of, I'm in good hands. Though I should probably keep pushing for that guide job at the old place.
